The company's origins date back to 1992. At that time, the first switches in the AK series were developed, as well as selective service communications equipment, which was manufactured for installation at communication centers in the Novosibirsk and Omsk regions by order of one of the local network carriers. The development, assembly, and installation of the equipment at the sites were carried out by a small team of like-minded people, who became the founders of Eltex.
The range of Eltex devices rapidly expanded in the 2000s: MAKOM long-distance switches, xDSL modems, and other equipment common for the market of that time were released. The digital PBX MC240 was particularly successful, the first prototypes of which have been running in customer networks since 2004. At that time, the development of OLT and ONT GEPON and MES Ethernet switches began; the devices are still popular now.
By 2010, both the manufacturing volume and the workforce had increased to the point that Eltex needed its own premises. An excellent location was found for the prospective facility within the city boundaries next to a pine forest. Ten months after construction began, the 14,000 m2 facility was officially opened, ushering in a new chapter in the history of Eltex.
Eltex successfully produces a series of Ethernet switches in response to the market's increasing demand for switching equipment. The first MES devices with PoE power supply and 10-gigabit models were released.
At the same time, Eltex expands into new segments of the telecom market—the development of GPON equipment, ESR routers, NV IPTV set-top boxes, SMG and TAU VoIP gateways, and thin clients is beginning.
Wireless technologies are being actively developed. The release of Wi-Fi access points for indoor and outdoor use, wireless broadband bridges, and the SoftWLC system—software for centralized management of wireless devices—begins.
Operational testing of ME core-level routers begins during this period. Until this point, no one had developed or produced equipment of this level in Russia.
In December 2018, Eltex expanded to a second building of 28,000 m², just a year after laying the foundation.
A noteworthy event was the startup of a high-production workshop, which can produce thousands of finished products in less than a day.
Eltex continues to develop. At the end of 2022, the Eltex Academy opens to train specialists to work with the company's equipment. Cooperation with universities and private training partners is being strengthened.
The company's staff exceeds 1,500 employees, which creates a need for additional space. To provide comfortable conditions for the growing team, construction of a new 12-story building with administrative and production premises begins at the end of 2023. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2025.
The company develops solutions that can compete with foreign analogues. Its products are used by private and public enterprises of various sizes all over the world: in the CIS countries, Europe, America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and regions of Africa.
